Free Books

I have had many readers asking me about free books. They are interested not only in books I have free, but those by other writers as well. There are many free books that are available. Some writers give all their books away like Nicky Charles and Jan Gordon and I love the were books both of them write. Others like Janet MacDonald, Calle Brookes, and T.A. Grey, give you a book or two so you can decide if you like their writing, which I do. They  write were based books as well as other stories. I find that it is easy to find free books on Smashwords were you can search for free books in the category you choose. I am sure it is not the only place, but it is one that I feel comfortable with since I publish my werewolf books through them.

Most writers stretch their talents and I find that once I get to know a writer through their werewolf books, I like the other books they write as well. I discovered I liked werewolf books when I read Nicky Charles because she was on Smashwords and an example of how to format a book if you wanted to publish with them which I did. Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop. It was addictive so I continued to read, found several other werewolf books, read them, then wrote one of my own. It opened up a whole new world for me and I wanted to share that world. It is my hope that my stories will give my readers even a small part of the enjoyment the stories these writers have given me.

*note- Oberlux by JDewayne Pierce is the first book I read on Smashwords. It is a sci fi/space fantasy. It is free and I enjoyed reading it. The price is definitely right!

My wife and I loved the books by Nicky Charles and she is now just reading your book Legend of the white werewolf. She said the characters seem to share a remarkable resemblance to the ones in the Nicky Charles books was this intentional? And possibly a continuation.? My wife loves the book and I will be also downloading it to read today. I follow a few authors on twitter as its great to know when they are in the process of writing a follow up and also release dates.
Looking forward to what I’m sure will be an excellent book

    • Thanks. I will have to admit that most of my characters are roughly based on people I know, but given more extreme personalities when they are wolves. There are certain things all wolves seem to have in common. Alphas tend to be more powerful, aggressive and dominating and their mates must be stronger to put up with and attract them. There are also common themes that are hard to deviate from in wolf books. It seems someone is always out to get the alpha or to become the alpha. There is also some squabbling over the alpha pair because they are exceptional individuals and wolves strive to mix the best genes with their own. I will also say that as much as I would like to be unique, we are all the product of what we consume. In my case, I am influenced by those writers that I enjoy reading. I mentioned a few of them in the article and Nicky Charles is definitely one of them. I have found certain tendencies to be in the stories most of them write and those tendencies are what make the books enjoyable to a large group of readers. I think your wife will discover many differences in the book as well. I think Blake is not as aggressive as I have found most of Nicky Charles’s alphas to be, but you can expect some ‘big bad alpha wolves’ in the future. Actually, I think Damon, who will be in the second Keepers series book, will fit that bill. I will also say that so far my books don’t have that erotic edge that Nicky Charles does so well and that the lack of it is intentional. For Keepers and Legend I wanted series that could be read by nearly anyone. I do intend to have a vampire series that will have that edge.

I really enjoyed the book and can’t wait for the next book in the series.nn

  6. I read all of Nicky Charles’ books and looked for more, finding yours. I completely enjoyed the first book (The Forgotten Ones) I read but the second (The Second Son) seems really off; like a different writer. Also, the scene in the casino in Oklahoma with the toddler sitting on the grandma’s lap is really off. I live in Oklahoma and I don’t think one can take children of any age into a casino.

    • I’m glad you liked the first book and I hoped you liked the second one even if it wasn’t what you were expecting. The scene in the casino was based on a recent experience and I was somewhat surprised to see the toddler in the casino as well. I know in Vegas or Mississippi that wouldn’t be allowed. Since I am sure that could not have gone without security noticing, I guess it was allowed because the child was so young.

    • Thank you so much. I hope to get to the third one around the end of the year. I have some other projects I need to complete first. The first project is Evry Night which follows Ariel’s cousin Roc and her sweetie Simon. You met them at the end of Legend I. It is a different series and has more vampires in it. It will be out sometime this month.

  10. I read the 1st Legend of the White Werewolf and just finished the 2nd son. Loved them both, looking for the 3rd book, Nigel and Bekka. Now I see you have split off with a Vampire series.

  15. Nancy Tamez

Enjoyed the Forgotten ones, getting ready to read the Second Son. What about this other series the MaDougal pack. Is it related to this series? When does it start?

    • Thank you. The Keepers of the Land series is a related series. Some of the characters from Legend are mentioned in it. McDougal Pack Alpha is the first of that series. The Blue Moon Pack and Cousins of the Moon series are also spin offs of Legend but they are erotic. Cousins of the Moon follows the white wolves who interact with vampires beginning with Ariel’s cousin Roc. Blue Moon Pack takes place in an isolated area and is about some of Ariel’s more distant but equally interesting cousins. The third Legend book will be out very soon.

  16. Hi would you mind letting me know which web host you’re utilizing? I’ve loaded your
blog in 3 different internet browsers and I must say this blog
loads a lot faster then most. Can you recommend a good web hosting provider at a fair
    price? Thanks, I appreciate it!

    • Thank you. My books are available at many outlets, but the only place I know for sure that every book is available, except Falling Rain which will be there in two months, is smashwords. This is the link to my profile page which lists all my books: https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/crystaldawnauthor . Smashwords is a distributor, but they also sell books on their site and clicking the book on the profile page will take you to the sales page. This is also the site the books show up on first because they publish them to their site so quickly.
Falling Rain is exclusively on Amazon until the end of October because it’s in the KDP Select program until then.
